Chicago Events April 2019
Here in Chicago we are finally starting to get a glimpse into #Summertime, and it’s about time. While most (myself included) chose to hibernate from the moment the clock stroke 12 on New Year’s Eve, the time has come to brush off your brunch shoes and spend your paycheck towards events around the city again! Read below for my roundup of things to do in Chicago this April 🙂
Art on theMART
April 1 – 30, 2020
Chicago’s Art on theMART took a two month break, but this March they are back for five nights a week! The 25-story-tall video installations will take over the side of the Merchandise Mart building 15 minutes following sunset, Wednesday through Sunday.
Chicago Dance Month
April 1 – 30, 2019
I might be a little biased, but I think every month should be Chicago Dance Month! 2019 markes the 7th annual Chicago Dance Month. The festivities last all April and feature over 70 different dance performances and events for viewers to enjoy. Check out the schedule on See Chicago Dance’s website to best plan out which performances you will attend! Which dance style is your favorite? Mine is Jazz Funk (mix between jazz and hip hop)!
Chicago Fashion Week
April 4 – 7, 2019
While on the lower scale of buzz, Chicago Fashion Week is an annual event featuring different designers and wear style themes throughout the week. Nordstrom Beauty Trend Cocktail Party

Nordstrom on Michigan Ave. is bringing out all the spring vibes with a whole weekend of beauty fun. Kick off the festivities with a cocktail party celebrating the new spring beauty trends The nighttime event is from 6-8pm and will include small bites, a toast, consultations with pro-stylists, and free samples. Tickets are $20 and can be redeemed towards a purchase in the Nordstrom beauty department!

Calling all my beauty lovers! Nordstrom is having a Beauty Trend Event on Saturday, April 6 from 8-10am at their Michigan Avenue location. RSVP to learn about Spring’s three new beauty trends: All You, Power Pout, and Tropicália (all though I do believe that Matcha and CBD Oil should be listed in there too!). Tickets are $20 and can be redeemed toward your Nordstrom beauty purchase.
Chicago Market for Makers
April 6 – 7, 2019
Interested in viewing the latest . Market for Makers hosts markets all around the US, hitting the major big city areas. This April they are coming to Chicago for one weekend to showcase and have attendees experience local artists’ work. Tickets range from $7-$20 and are available online as well as in person. General Admission ($7) a complimentary tote bag and the chance to make a flower crown (AHH!). VIP ($20) services include the same as General Admission plus one hour early admission, a dedicated VIP line, an upgraded tote, extra flowers for your flower crown, and one free beer, wine, or cocktail ticket.
Chicago Cubs Opening Day

Let’s Fly the W this year! The Chicago Cubs are BACK with their home opener on Monday, April 8 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Right now there are a few tickets left, ranging from $59 to $277. I’m personally going to wait until it’s a bit warmer outside to eat a hot dog and chant ‘Everybody In’, however the home opener is perfect for a die hard fan!

For the Throne Release Party

The final season of Game of Thrones is coming. Who else is excited?! Chicago Athletic Association will host a release party for the Game of Thrones-inspired beer, “For the Throne”, on April 9 from 7-9pm. For the Throne is a strong golden ale with notes of pear and apricot. For just $30 a ticket you can enjoy a stringed quartet, trivia, and a costume contest. So come dressed to impress!
Taste of Iceland

Iceland Naturally is bringing their culture to the Windy City with Taste of Iceland 2019. Traveling to Iceland has recently become a super popular tourist destination – I want to go! The Taste of Iceland festival features four days of food, culture, film, and more to have you feel like you are there for yourself. Below is the week’s list of events.

Chicago Wingfest: 20th Anniversary

Come to this Chicago event with a big appetite! Wingfest 2019 will celebrate the 20th anniversary of this annual city festival with lots and lots of wings. Attendees will have two choices of tickets: General Admission for $50 and VIP for $110. There will even be a wing eating contest!

Yes, there is such a thing as Spa Week. Yes, Chicago participates. Chicago Spa Week is a great event to check out if you love to pamper yourself while saving money. Participating spas – there are four here in the city – will each offer three different treatments for a $50 flat fee. For some of these treatments that usually cost over $100, $50 is a steal! I, myself, will be participating in the weeks’ festivities by booking two spa treatments.

Chicago Wine Fest: Spring Edition

Wine Fest is back: Spring Edition. This one-day event will be held at one of my favorite Chicago landmarks, the Lincoln Park Zoo, from 12-10pm. The Chicago event will feature live entertainment, food for purchase, and of course wine. One of my favorite wineries, 90+ Cellars, will be there! Tickets range from $35-$60, depending on if you choose a General Admission of VIP ticket. There are also a few Groupon tickets available for the event here. Even if you’re not into wine, their website alone is worth checking out – super cute!
