The Perfect Summer Cheese Board

July 25, 2019

Looking for an easy appetizer to bring to your next summer potluck or event? Cheese boards are great because they are quick, aesthetically pleasing, and everyone enjoys one. For those that do not really cook (me) it’s a done deal. Follow the steps below on how to make the perfect summer cheese board!

Step 1: The Cheese

summer cheese board step 1: the cheese

First step is to pick two cheeses to feature on your cheese board. These can really be any two types of cheese that you fancy, however I picked softened brie and Boursin’s Basil and Chive for mine. Assemble the two cheeses on opposite corners of each other.

Step 2: The Meat

step 2: the meat

Next up: meat. Assemble hard salmi going down the board, from one corner to another. This should go in between the two cheeses to make a nice wave. It really adds an aesthetic flare!

Step 3: The Fruit

step 3: the fruit

The perfect summer cheese board wouldn’t be complete without some nice summer fruit! Split apart blackberries and strawberries on each side of the board. You can either cut up the strawberries or keep them whole like I did.

Step 4: The Nuts

step 4: the nuts

To add some nutty flavor, add in salted or non salted almonds where you still have empty spots. Almonds are great paired with brie, and really any type of cheese, for some extra flavor.

Step 5: Decorations

step 5: the decorations

You now have all the edible ingredients added on your cheese board. Adding decorations, such as fake or real flowers, gives the last touch to an already aesthetically-pleasing presentation!

Cheese Board Tips

  • Present using a cutting board or pizza tray.
  • Use Crunchmaster crackers to serve with your cheese board. They’re the best.
  • Have honey on the side in case someone wants to add it to their plate.
  • Tupperware the leftovers for at-home or at-work snacking later!

My Summer Hollister Outfit

May 1, 2019

my hollister summer outfit

Ok, so remember when Hollister was all the rage in middle school? Like you weren’t anybody unless you were living, breathing, and smelling like the signature perfume at every moment? I admit, I was one of those girls. And, surprisingly, still one of those girls today. Read more about my new Hollister summer outfit below!

A Rekindled Brand Loyalty

Hollister has done a great job adjusting their sizing and continuing to create fashionable ‘beach babe’ wear over the years. Not having their logo splashed across the front of every top, dress, and jacket has also helped to minimize the ‘middle school’ nostalgia and focus on the prints and silhouettes themselves. I recently took a chance and went on a Hollister shopping spree online.

Mid-Rise Denim Shorts

Hollister sizes are now similar to women’s sizing you would find at Express. This is my best comparison as I shop at Express a lot! I found their Advanced Stretch Mid-Rise Denim Shorts to be really cute, so I ordered two – Dark Destroy and Ripped White – in size 7. I am usually a size 6 in denim, so I figured a size 7 rather than a size 5 would be my best fit. I was right! The shorts fit PERFECT and have a really flattering shape. They are also currently on sale for under $30!!

Floral V-Neck Top

Staying true to their floral, boho chic style, I found the perfect v-neck top to pair with both denim shorts. The Woven V-Neck Top in ‘White Floral’ is airy, carefree and just the right amount of feminine. I purchased it in size Medium for a loose, not-too-tight fit to pair with a lace bralette underneath. It was just the summer top I was looking for!

My Thoughts on Hollister

It’s official. Hollister has made a grand comeback in my book and I can’t wait to see what else they come out with in the upcoming seasons. Since the shorts and floral v-neck top I have already purchased their twist-front t-shirt in two colors! What are your thoughts on the brand?
