Charm’d: Chicago’s Magical Irish Pop-Up

February 28, 2025

Charm’d Chicago’s 1st Magical Irish Pop-Up Experience

Do you have the luck of the Irish? I attended Chicago’s Charm’d Pop-Up Bar media night for the first time and loved the festive theme and decorations (I am half Irish!). We explored the aesthetic photo ops, tried signature cocktails and food menu items, and listened to live karaoke. It was a lot of fun; I love pop-up events. Charm’d Chicago is open to the public February 21-March 17, 2025. Keep reading for more information about Chicago’s Charm’d Pop-Up Bar and things to know before you go!

Charm’d Pop-Up Photo Ops

You know I love a good photo backdrop. It’s my favorite thing about these Chicago events! While not overdone, Charm’d had photo ops worth enjoying. My favorites were a lit-up rainbow hallway, a confetti shamrock, Charm’d flower bench, and a ‘Kiss Me I’m Irish’ neon sign.

Charm’d Food & Drink

Additionally to the photo ops, Charm’d Pop-Up Bar’s media night included tasty bites from their food menu. We tried the Charm’d Sliders and the Irish Nachos! Also on the pop-up menu are giant pretzels, quesadillas, pizza, chicken tenders, and more (see menu pictures at the end of this post). We also tried signature cocktails – the Unicorn Dream, Shamrock’d, and Rainbow Runner. Unicorn Dream was my favorite!

BABE St. Patrick’s Day Jello Shots

March 8, 2020

Chicago really knows how to throw an Irish party! St. Patrick’s Day is by far one of the best holidays in the city. Everyone comes out with the best spirit, green attire, and holiday festivities. This year, I’ve #partnered with BABE Wine to show you how to make the perfect BABE St. Patrick’s Day jello shots! Be warned, they’re actually delicious.

Jello Shot Ingredients

BABE St. Patrick’s Day jello shots call for a box of Lime JELL-O, water, and a can of BABE Grigio. This makes about 20 mini shots, or 10 normal size. I improvised the recipe a little bit from the BABE Jello Shot card given to me, but feel free to follow it (pictured) for a bigger crowd!

How to Make Jello Shots

Just like any other time making jello, you’ll need a box of JELL-O and hot water. Usually you do one cup of hot water and one cup of cold. In this case, I did one cup of hot water and one cold can of BABE Grigio. Worked like a charm!

How it Actually Tastes

Unlike other jello shots I’ve had, these were actually delicious. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t drink a lot! The BABE Grigio paired with the lime flavored JELL-O is the perfect combination for a sweet treat that isn’t too alcohol-strong. I loved it! Great for a St. Patrick’s Day pre-game.

Where to Find BABE Wine

BABE is sold at many locations around the city, however not ALL locations, so make sure you check out their Wine Locator!

Things to Do in Chicago This March

February 5, 2020

chicago skyline

Time to come out of hibernation! Us Chicagoans will (hopefully) get a glimpse of Spring this month and I can’t wait. It’s about time for all the fun, festive events to make a come back. I have rounded up all the worthy things to do in Chicago this March for your viewing below. Which of them will you be trying out?

Charm’d: The Magical Irish Pop-Up Bar

March 1 – 14, 2020

Photo: Charm’d Instagram

True to the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago, Charm’d is an Instagram-worthy pop-up bar in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood. The pop-up will be held inside Deuce’s and The Diamond Club, one of my favorite party spots. Events offered at the Irish themed pop-up include Paint n’ Sip, Bingo n’ Booze, Karaoke Night, Magic Mondays, and Sunday Funday. It is recommended to buy a ticket ahead of time online to make sure the day you want to attend does not sell out (tickets are also more expensive at the door). Themed food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Chicago Flower & Garden Show

March 18 – 22, 2020

Who else thinks flowers are absolutely beautiful? How about life-size gardens all in the same place? This year the Chicago Flower & Garden Show is hosting their annual event during a small part of March. Tickets can be bought here. The show will also offer Special Events throughout it’s debut, including a Chicago Reader party and networking event!

St. Patrick’s Day Chicago Green River Dyeing & Parade

March 14, 2020

Photo: bravotv.com

One of the events Chicago is most notorious for is the green dyeing of the Chicago River for St. Patrick’s Day. This usually happens in the morning on the Saturday of St. Patrick’s Day festivities in the city (bar crawls, bar parties, etc.). This year it is occurring March 14, 2020 at either 9 or 10am. I recommend going to Upper Wacker for a good view of the river being dyed green! The Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade will start at Grant Park for the North Side. If you’re looking for a good bar crawl, I’m going to the one in Wrigley!

Macy’s Flower Show

March 22 – April 5, 2020

Photo: macys.com/s/flower-show/

The Macy’s Flower Show is always a Springtime favorite. The event features beautiful flower installations all focused around a hand-picked theme. This year’s theme is Voyage to Oceanum – featuring floral aquatic beauty. I can’t wait to see the spread for the 2020 event at Chicago’s Macy Flagship location on State Street! Free to the public.

Chicago Beer Festival

March 14, 2020

VIP also includes specialty beers poured during a special VIP session. The event is 21+ and tickets can be purchased here.

Uncorked: Chicago Wine Festival

March 21, 2020

Uncorked, a Chicago wine festival held at the Museum of Science and Industry, highlights over 200 wines and champagnes from around the globe. VIP tickets include an extra hour of tasting (4 hours), compared to general admission tickets for three hours of tasting. Dress or cocktail attire is recommended.

St. Patrick’s Day Cereal Shots

March 17, 2018

st. patrick's day cereal shots

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! This weekend the streets of downtown Chicago will be full of green beer, a green river, and green St. Patty’s Day cheer. The favored holiday is a favorite within the city, giving locals and tourists a day to remember (or not remember, that is). I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to pull together a last minute treat for hosting the staple 9 AM pre-game. However, with a few staple items from Jewel, I was able to find everything I needed a festive drink. They were out of shot glass size, so I had to use bigger cups, so adjust where needed.
