4 Steps to Better Skin
What’s your biggest skin woe?
Lately I have been having problems with skin redness and dryness, something super embarrassing when not wearing foundation (which I make sure is never). I had tried a few different brand-name products from the store with no luck and had almost given up when I was reached out to by Y/OUR skincare.
Y/OUR skincare offers a 4-step skin care regimen to work into your daily routine. Their products use clean ingredients, are cruelty free, made in the USA, and do not contain fillers, paraben, sulfate or toxins. Not to mention their packaging is super cute. I had never tried a skin care regimen that required more than two steps #lazy, so I was excited to be offered the chance to try out my own personalized kit. My regimen was based off of a custom Skin Analysis Quiz taken on Y/OUR’s site to decipher skin type and problem areas. After taking the quiz you will land on your Skin Report page. This is where you will find your full skin analysis as well as the ingredients that will be included in your personalized regimen. This information is not included when you physically receive your kit, however you should receive an email right after taking it that links back to it online for later reference!
My skin type is Combination, so the ingredients chosen for my regimen were specific towards my skin type and concerns. Out of the choices offered, I marked wrinkles, dark spots, redness, and pores for my top skin concerns. They also ask about the stress level of your day-to-day environment, in which I put Stressful (I mean, let’s be real). Based on my results, the amplified ingredients for my personalized regimen were seaweed and chamomile for anti-redness, rosehip oil for brightening, peptide complex for anti-aging, glycolic for pore-clearing, and vitamin B3 for strengthening. The daily routine consists of four steps using four specific products:
1. Cleanser
Since I have combination skin, the cleanser is perfect for regulating sebum production (oil secretion) and acting as a vacuum towards excess oil. The formula also helps towards a smooth completion. I have liked using this as the first step to get my skin ready for the other three products each day. The cleanser does not leave any sticky residue behind and has not caused any dryness.
2. Day Cream
The day cream helps to protect skin and balance skin. It absorbed super quick, contrary to similar face creams I have tried, and helps to combat sun damage (which causes dark spots and uneven skin tone). I have a mild dark spot on the left side of my chin, so I was very interested to see how this would help! The formula combines the UV deflecting properties of Titanium minerals with protective ingredients to prevent sun damage, neutralize harmful free radicals, and keep away pollution damages. The cream itself contains 30 SPF!
3. Serum
The water-gel serum was super lightweight. I barely even felt myself putting it on! The main purpose of this formula is to help reduce redness and right wrinkles. The included antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients are perfect for calming redness (YESSS). It also gives a boost of hydration to plump the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I loved how a little bit of serum went a long way.
4. Night Cream
The last step the Y/OUR skincare regimen is night cream. This was my favorite product out of the four. I loved the cooling, smooth effect it left! It was the perfect amount of moisture and hydration for my face before going to bed. The nourishing properties within the formula help balance moisture, stimulate cell growth and rejuvenate your skin all night. Vitamins and antioxidants help boost collagen production, reduce the appearances of fine lines and wrinkles, brighten hyperpigmentation, and improve the appearance of large pores. Basically, this formula has it all and I love it. Each day I have woken up with my face feeling fresh and new, without any negative effect of leaving the cream on overnight.
I have been doing this skin care regimen for a few days now and so far love the effects I have seen – especially the extra hydration in this cold Fall air. Do you have a skincare regiment that you stick to? What are you favorite ways to keep your skin hydrated and fresh? Comment below!
