Jack Frost Winterfest Pop-Up 2022

December 21, 2022

Chicago Winter Pop-Up

We Love Pop Ups’ winter experience, Jack Frost Winterfest, is my favorite winter pop-up that occurs in the city each year. Full of festive backdrops and holiday inspiration, it’s the perfect outing if you’re looking for something different to do in the winter time. The experience includes 2 acres of great photo ops, bars, axe throwing, ice skating, and a Christmas tree field. This is similar to their Fall experience in the same location, Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up. Make sure to get a hot chocolate while you’re there!

Jack Frost Pop-Up Photo Ops

The best part about Jack Frost Winterfest are all the great photo ops! They really can’t be beat if you’re looking for unique backdrops to get content in front of. Each year has a candy cane house, a sleigh, and a variety of holiday aesthetics. My favorites this year included a “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” wall, a poinsettia wall, and a “Candycane Wishes & Mistletoe Kisses” wall.

Jack Frost Pop-Up Food & Drink

This Goose Island event offers multiple drinks for purchase. The bars offer both alcohol and nonalcoholic options. We tried the hot chocolate and loved it! Jack Frost Winterfest is credit card only and does not accept cash. Beers, ciders, and classic cocktails range between $9-$12, with specialty cocktails priced at $14.

Specialty Cocktails

  • Snow-Much-Fun – Eggnog with whiskey
  • Rudolph’s Red Nose Punch – Vodka & peppermint punch
  • The Grinch – Sweet mint vodka with cinnamon

Jack Frost Pop-Up Tickets

Jack Frost Winterfest Pop-Up is open to the public all December. General admission starts at $22. Add-ons include drink tickets, axe throwing, and ice skating. Tickets are offered for time slots throughout the day and evening. Make sure to buy online ahead of time!

Santa Hustle 5k Chicago

December 15, 2021

Santa Hustle Chicago

Ho ho ho! This year I partnered with Santa Hustle 5k‘s Chicago event to recap a fun, festive experience. Held at the iconic Solider Field, my family and I enjoyed 3.1 miles outside at a brisk walking tempo. The course wrapped around the lake for great scenic views! Each Santa Hustle 5k benefits a chosen local charity. This year’s efforts went towards Cal’s Angels, a pediatric cancer foundation based in St. Charles, IL. Their mission is to grant wishes, raise awareness, and fund research.

The Swag

The Santa Hustle 5k had some of the best race swag I’ve ever gotten. Each participant received a red performance zip-up jacket, Santa hat, Santa beard, and a finisher medal that also serves as a souvenir ornament. Additional swag (red tutu, candy cane socks, Santa coat, and more) was available at registration for an additional price.

Future Events

Santa Hustle 5ks are held all over the U.S. Both kids and adults can attend and enjoy the festivities. Registration ranges between $35-$60 depending on how early you purchase. It’s always a good idea to take advantage of early bird pricing! If you’re interested in volunteering instead of running/walking, Santa’s helpers are always needed!

Christkindlmarket Chicago

November 24, 2021

Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza

This past weekend I kicked off the holiday season with two events: watching the Festival of Lights parade from my window and checking out Christkindlmarket Chicago with my family. This German Christmas market is an annual favorite in the city. Running now through December 24th – downtown and in Wrigleyville – visitors can attend for free while enjoying food, music, and souvenirs for sale. We stayed for about an hour – read below for our experience!

The Traditional Christkindlmarket Mug

Each year a new mug design is featured at Christkindlmarket. These can be bought when purchasing hot cider, spiced wine, beer, chai, or hot chocolate. The mug this year, shown above in forest green, celebrates the event’s 25th anniversary. In my opinion it’s the best design yet!

Experiencing Christkindlmarket Chicago

Aside from having something to drink, we also tried the cherry strudel and traditional pretzels. Make sure to bring plenty of cash – a lot of the booths do not take credit cards! There were also a lot of great ornaments, traditional clocks, and unique gifts for sale. You can find a full list of market vendors here. If you’re looking for something sit-down, you can make a reservation for Stammtisch in the Timber Haus heated tent.

What’s your favorite holiday event in the city? Comment below!

Race Event Registration

What says #treatyourself like a vacation and a fun event all tied into one? Every time I’ve attended a runDisney race weekend I’ve had the best time. In my opinion, registering and flying out to Orlando is way worth the dinero. It also gives you something nice to look forward to. I’ve done the runDisney Princess Half-Marathon race weekend two times, with my third time coming up in February 2022. There are different races to choose from, all ranging throughout the year. Registration opens multiple months before the event and sell out fast, so it is something you will need to plan ahead of time. Learn how to prepare for a runDisney race weekend here. September 5, 2020

My family and I will still be getting together to see each other and do our holiday traditions. I’ve listed items I’ve had my eye on below for a Holiday Gift Guide for Her. Some can be bought anywhere, where others are for my fellow Chicago locals!

Rare Beauty Matte Lip Cream

Selena Gomez recently released her new beauty line, Rare Beauty, and I absolutely love it. With 1% of proceeds going to The Rare Fund, which was created to donate to mental health organizations such as NAMI, I think the company is advocating towards such a great cause. Rare Beauty offers a lot of different products that are all about showing what makes you unique. Some examples include lipstick, eyeliner, highlighter, brush tools, and more. My cart on launch day included the Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation in shade 210N (one of their Light Medium shades) and the Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream in shade ‘Courage’. Bose SoundSport Free Wireless Headphones

These have been one of my most prized possessions for numerous years. Numberless commutes, work outs, you name it – these wireless headphones have sure gotten their use and STILL have the best sound and quality I have ever found in a set of wireless headphones. I also like how the earbuds still inside your ears since I have a hard time keeping other ones in my ears, especially while working out. The purple option is pretty hard to find, but the headphones also come in black, blue, and bright orange. Photo: amazon.com | Bose SoundSport Free Wireless Headphones: $299

Aura Reading from Revealing Soul

If you want easy, luscious curls, I highly recommend a curling iron from Beachwaver Co. – it’s what I use to curl my hair! The curling iron has a button you can push to automatically rotate the barrel to curl your hair and hold. You can have it curl inwards or outwards. It also heats up super fast and distributes heat evenly from top to bottom. Beachwaver Co. offers other barrel sizes, but I like the 1.25 inch model the best. Photo: ulta.com | Beachwaver Co. Transit Tees Chicago Red Line Magnet

Transit Tees, in my opinion, has some of the best Chicago themed items around. One item of theirs that I really like is the Transit Line Magnets. I want to get one for the Grand stop to represent my neighborhood! They offer magnets for the red line, brown line, purple line, blue line, green line, orange line, pink line, and yellow line. Aside from magnets, Transit Tees also has some cool Chicago games, apparel, jewelry, keychains, glassware, and stationary. Sending Holiday Cheer with Paperless Post

December 23, 2019

Happy Holidays! This year I wanted to send some holiday cheer to my family and closest friends. Paperless Post, a company that lets you send e-greeting cards and invitations, partners with designers like Kate Spade New York and Oscar de la Renta for a stylish touch. For my send, I chose a super cute Kate Spade New York holiday card that dawned “Love & Warmth” on the front. Scroll all the way down to see a video of what opening a Paperless Post card looks like!

This post is in partnership with Paperless Point. Thank you for supporting all campaigns that make Sweating Champagne possible!

How Much Does Paperless Post Cost

Paperless Post offers cards that you can purchase using credit called ‘Coins’. Your first 25 Coins are free when you first sign up for a Paperless Post account – wooo hoo! Most cards seem to be 2-5 Coins per send. Additional add ons to your card can make the price go up. There are Coin packages offered, which you can see below:

  • 25 Coins: $10
  • 100 Coins: $20
  • 200 Coins: $30
  • 400 Coins: $40
  • 1000 Coins: $100

How to Use Paperless Post

You can choose from hundreds of different greeting cards and invitations on Paperless Post. The best part is that all of them are gorgeous. There is a mix of picture focused and non-picture cards for any occasion. I was happy about this because it is just me in my house, so I don’t need a picture card that would usually be used for a couple or family holiday card! Each card is customizable, so you can put your personal touch on the card you send. You can also customize which print you want for the inside of the envelope!

Holiday Gift Guide for Her 2019

October 13, 2019

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner, which means it’s TIME TO SHOP! Sales and product releases are happening earlier and earlier each year, so I recommend making your gift list (or wish list) sooner than later. Start giving those hints! I have rounded up a list of Alyssa-approved gifts in a holiday gift guide that are worth giving or being given this holiday season below. Let me know which ones are your favorites!

Bose: Soundsport Wireless Headphones

bose soundsport wireless headphones

These have been one of my most prized possessions for the past three years. Numberless commutes, work outs, you name it – these wireless headphones have sure gotten their use and STILL have the best sound and quality I have ever found in a set of wireless headphones. I had the pair in black, but after recently losing them (could have kicked myself) I replaced them with the violet pair! Honestly, these are a great gift and an even better item to have on your personal wish list. My number one recommendation, for sure.

Clothing Garment Rack

holiday gift guide clothing garment rack

For the fashionista in your life, an easy, yet affordable, option is a clothing garment rack! These really add a stylish flare to any room and are great for having in the background while taking #ootd pictures. For this reason, I had to include it in this holiday gift guide! I recently got one for my apartment and love it. I have linked the exact clothing garment rack I purchased HERE.

Cole Haan: ZERØGRAND Explore Hiker Boots

cole haan zerogrand explore hiker boots gift guide

I love these winter boots from Cole Haan. They are waterproof (much needed in the city) and are really stylish. They also have rubber pods for traction and a great cushioned footbed. When Chicago hits the polar vortex again, these are the shoes I want to have handy!

Venus Et Fleur: Lé Mini Round

These tiny rose arrangements are the perfect gift for any occasion. They’re unique, beautiful, and a great price range! Each rose lasts up to about a year on their own, no watering needed, in a cute mini box. The Lé Mini Round style offers a variety of box colors and rose colors to choose from. It’s perfect!

AE: High-Rise Plush Leopard Legging

american eagle high-rise plush leopard legging

If you know me, you know I absolutely love leopard print. On any occasion. On any piece of clothing. Did you catch my post about leopard print styles for Fall?? These leopard leggings from American Eagle look SUPER comfy and would be a great lounge addition to your closet. The price is not too shabby either!

Corkcicle: Stemless Insulated Wine Glass

corkcicle wine glass gift guide

These babies are perfect for Wine Wednesday! Stainless steel that keeps cold drinks colder than cold and hot drinks hotter than hot. Sounds like the perfect, sleek wine glass to me! Did I mention it has a shatterproof lid and is super cute?

Spanx: Jean-ish Ankle Leggings

spanx jean ankle leggings

Now these are on my wishlist! I love the way Spanx leggings are made. I have their faux leather leggings and love the high-waisted fit as well as the quality of the material. I think these Jean-ish Ankle Leggings are perfect for Fall and Winter this year. The best thing about Spanx and these leggings, they come in regular and PETITE size! Woo hoo!

Fitbit: Versa 2

holiday gift guide fitbit versa 2

I have a Fitbit Versa 2 (just got it) and LOVE it. I love being able to track my steps, heart rate, and sleep every day. The Versa 2 is the latest edition released by Fitbit this past September. It comes in multiple colored bands and there are many cheap bands sold on Amazon for them as well (view my leopard band here!). You can also sync Spotify and Alexa to it!

The Beachwaver Co. S1 Curling Iron

the beachwaver co. S1 curling iron

If you want luscious curls, I highly recommend this Beachwaver curling iron – it’s what I use! It is $129, and worth every penny. The curling iron has a button to push to automatically curl your hair and hold. It also heats up super fast and distributes heat evenly from top to bottom. I like the 1″ inch model for not too tight, not too loose curls!

Timberland: Carnaby Cool Bootie

gift guide pink timberland booties

What would a holiday gift guide be without cute, girly booties for fall and winter? I’m a big fan of the color pink, so I am a big fan of these pink Timberland booties. They come in women’s size 5.5 to 11 and have an OrthoLite® footbed for increased comfort. They also have a little bit of a heel, which is a plus for style!

Balance Athletica: The OG Pant – Tie Dye Intuition

balance athletica the OG pant tie dye intuition

Balance Athletica offers super cute leggings for every woman, no matter her shape or size. Worthy of being on a holiday gift guide! Their newest collection, the Aura Collection, are especially head-turners. These tie-dye styles come in three different colors – with pink of course being my favorite – for $70 each. I love that they are high-waisted and flattering to the behind!
