The Beachwaver’s Make Waves Launch Party

June 19, 2019

The Beachwaver’s Make Waves Launch Party

The Beachwaver has a new hair care line and I am all about it. The Make Waves Collection is women owned, cruelty-free, smells like a tropical vacation, and is for all hair types. Hallelujah. I was able to view the Make Waves collection first hand at The Beachwaver’s recent launch event, hosted at The J Parker rooftop bar in Lincoln Park. Talk about a party with a view! The event featured a Beachwaver-themed cocktail menu, a female-focused panel, cute photo ops, light bites, and the most AMAZING gift bags.

The New Make Waves Collection

You may know The Beachwaver brand for their hair styling tools, however their new Make Waves collection is worth trying! I love the smell of suntan lotion, palm trees, and coconuts – so the signature scent of the hair care products was something that stood out to me right away. Think instant beach getaway. With a great tan. And coconut oil.

My Favorite Products

I was most interested to try the Make Waves Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, as I was looking to help tame my recent hair dryness. Made with coconut milk, they both did the trick! I tried the products the day after the event and loved them. My hair felt silky smooth and smelled like a coconut haven. I also really liked their Great Barrier Heat Protectant Hairspray, which is great for right after you curl your hair!

Formulate Co. Shampoo & Conditioner Review + Giveaway

October 22, 2018

Formulate co shampoo and conditioner reviewFormulate Co. shampoo and conditioner is personalized hair care that you can customize based on your hair characteristics, goals, lifestyle, and environment.

Formulate Co.’s  shampoo and conditioner are 100% a customized set and are not sold already made or as individual items. Lately I have been having issues with flatness and too much oil production with my hair, while having to make sure that the product I use is color safe, so the opportunity to partner with Formulate Co. couldn’t have come at a better time. I mean, why spend hundreds on hair care that only half meets your needs?

Keep reading below for the chance to win your own custom Formulate Co. Shampoo and Conditioner set!

So, you might be wondering how you can customize shampoo and conditioner to be tailored specifically to your hair. While it’s not a 100% match (let’s be honest, nothing in life is), the questions asked in Formulate Co.’s easy “hair wizard” quiz compiles a pretty solid overview of your hair goals, hair type, common styling uses. You can even be as detailed to choose the scent and intensity of smell you want your Formulate Co. shampoo and conditioner to have! I think this was my favorite part of the customization. I chose Burgeon, a nice orange scent, at medium strength! My hair goals consisted of oil control, volume, length, replenishing, and color protection – this last part was extra important as I have recently been coloring my hair a lot this year! See my most recent look here.

Based off my quiz analysis and customization, I was then sent my own personalized Formulate Co. shampoo and conditioner set in the mail (took about two weeks to receive). The packaging of the set was very modern and sleek, featuring black and white tones and hexagon-shaped bottles. The box came with a physical analysis of my Formulate Co. quiz results. I really liked because you were able to see a simple summary of what ingredients were added to your shampoo and conditioner and why those specific ingredients were chosen based on your hair goals. I really appreciated having a paper version of this to keep for later.

I’ve been using my Formulate Co. shampoo and conditioner for about a month now and the biggest difference I have seen with my hair is increase in volume and less oily, which were my main concerns with my hair. I think the idea of customized hair care is unique and would try it again based on these results.
